CIDC2006, a follow-up to CIRN2005 also held in Cape Town, attracted more than 60 international and local delegates to The Information Society Institute for a three-day discussion of the social appropriation of information technology, and the way that it contributes to a participative future information society.

Nine countries were represented, including Australia, Botswana, Canada, Finland, India, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.
